Culture Memories Who am I? a mother, a wife, a student, a daughter, a niece, a friend, a reader, a Christian, a sister, and a future teacher. What is my cultural background? My cultural background is English and a little Native American. Not much of our cultural background has been passed down except for holiday celebrations. We have a famous, English pirate in our ancestory named Thomas Tew.
What family traditions regarding play have been passed down? My dad loves sports and has passed that down to me. I love to play softball and tennis. They also have passed down their love of games and we still have game nights sometimes.
What family Christmas traditions have been passed down from one generationto the next? We always wake up in the morning and are allowed to look into our stockings but we were supposed to wait til 8 to wake up my parents. The rule is that we had to eat breakfast first. Then we just hang out all day in our pajamas. I will probably pass that down to my children. Now that I have my own family, we still open our presents in the morning and we have a Christmas dinner at night with my parents like we used to do with my grandparents when I was little.
What family traditions have been about the high school years…....In my family, it is very important to get good grades. We never miss an assignment or a test. We are also a very social family and enjoy going to the sporting events and dances held by the school.
What family traditions have been passed down from one generation to the next in the are of marriage and family? In our family, we have had babies and gotten married young and that has passed down to me as well. I would never take it back, but I hope that my children can break this tradition because it is very hard to continue school and support a family.
What other unique family traditions have been passed down? We have brunch every Sunday together. This helps us to keep in touch even though we are all very busy with work and school. I am glad that we have carried this tradition on as we have moved on with our lives.
